From the video you are linking to's description
"Exculsive In game footage of GW2 Okay for those who are cornfused[sic] This is the preview video for Guild Wars for E3 in 2002. The video was released on the official Guild Wars website at the same time. There was never a version of Guild Wars out before Arenanet "took it over". Arenanet was a new company formed by people experienced in the game industry. Arenanet created Guild Wars from scratch as their first, and currently only game. The reason the graphics look so different form Guild Wars is now is because prior to release everything was given updated models and reskinned to look better. Most of what is seen in this video is quickly thrown together placeholder models and skins. " This is Alpha fotage of GW 1. I've seen it before. Pretty ridiculous when you think about it. Thank god it doesn't look like that anymore. PS, this video is one of the big reasons people should stop posting "please show us GW2 screenshots." Games in their early stages look nothing like the finished product, as most of the work is spent on designing the server code. Any GW2 screenshots we get now will look just as "bad" as these old GW1 alpha videos look compared to the real GW1. |

It is alpha footage and It gets brought up every once in a while, but I noticed something very funny this time- In the very last shot the one warrior is wielding a colossal scimitar! Nostalgia ftw!

Yah its funny there the colossal is basicly the same back then as it is now. Also funny that everyone and his brother in that video is a warrior or ranger, or a warrior wielding a bow etc.

And notice that the closing screen said "Coming in 2004". Another reason for ArenaNet not to say much about GW2. If they gave a release year and nothing happened (GW was released in 2005), the fan community would go berserk.
